How to tame mounts
To tame a horse, run up while it is unaware and ride it. This starts a minigame: push the left stick or press the direction keys opposite to the direction the horse is facing until the bar fills.
For large animals like bears, keep attacking until the animal stops moving and a ride prompt appears. The animal becomes a temporary mount; once you dismount, it returns to attacking you immediately.
How mounts work
Each mount is limited to land or air travel, or both, depending on its type. Mounts also have combat utility: each one learns skills by leveling up, giving you unique attacks you can use mid-fight. Different situations call for different mounts, so the choice of ride can affect how you approach combat.
