NetEase Games and Starry Studio released the mobile version of their hit supernatural open-world survival game Once Human globally today, bringing the post-apocalyptic experience to iOS and Android devices.
The mobile launch comes after strong performance on PC, where the game reached Steam’s global top five bestsellers and peaked at 230,000 concurrent players. The mobile version attracted over 30 million pre-registrations before today’s release.
Players can expect full cross-platform functionality with one-touch gathering and smart combat assistance optimized for mobile gameplay. Cross-progression allows seamless switching between mobile and PC versions.
“The mobile version delivers a premium survival experience on the go,” said a representative from Starry Studio.
Partnership with survival expert
In conjunction with the mobile release, Once Human announced a partnership with renowned survivalist Ed Stafford, a Guinness World Record holder known for surviving 60 days on a desert island.
The collaboration includes a global contest where six players will be selected to attend an in-person survival training camp led by Stafford himself. Winners will learn authentic survival skills including shelter building and resource scavenging.
“The virtual and reality will collide in this survival extravaganza,” according to the official announcement. Interested players can sign up for the contest through the game’s website.
Launch rewards and upcoming content
New mobile players will receive substantial in-game rewards valued at up to $1,000, including:
- 16 Legendary weapon and gear blueprints
- 1,016 cosmetic items
- 11 rare Deviations companions
The development team also revealed plans for new content in Q2 and Q3 of 2025:
- Visional Wheel S1 coming soon
- A new PvE scenario called “Endless Dream” around the game’s first anniversary
- Multiple endings based on player decisions
- Construction mode that doesn’t require territory ownership
- Adaptive difficulty that scales with player actions
Returning player incentives
Veteran players returning to the game can earn exclusive rewards by checking in daily and completing team tasks. Special items include the Wished Gift avatar, name card, and theme.
Returning players will also receive special currency to redeem up to ten rewards and will have the ability to join full servers to reconnect with friends.
Once Human is available as a free download on App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) starting today.
