Overwatch’s newest Damage hero is getting a visual overhaul. Blizzard confirmed the changes drop with Season 2 on April 14, weeks after players called out a gap between Anran’s promotional artwork and how she actually looks in-game.
Game Director Aaron Keller said the team reworked her eyes, eyebrows, and mouth, and adjusted her posture. His stated goal: get rid of the “baby face” look and make her feel more like the “fiery and fierce” older sister of Wuyang she was designed to be.
Anran debuted at the start of Season 1 — when Blizzard dropped the “2” from the title and relaunched as simply Overwatch. She is one of five heroes added then, a fire-user whose kit includes Zhuque Fans, Inferno Rush, and Dancing Blaze. Her ultimate runs in two forms depending on whether she is alive or dead.

Player criticism began in February, shortly after launch. The complaints centered on two things: her model looked too close to heroes like Kiriko and Juno, and it did not match the sharper features shown in earlier promo material. The revision targets both issues.
Blizzard has also announced a new hero reveal on April 8 at 9 a.m. PT.
