Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have announced that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will receive a significant free update, introducing the “Siege” mode on June 26. This new PvE experience, teased during Warhammer’s Skulls Festival livestream, will be available to all players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In “Siege” mode, players will team up in a 3-player co-op setting on the planet Kadaku. The mission is to defend an Imperial fortress against relentless and increasingly deadly waves of Tyranid and Chaos forces. “Prepare to hold your ground and survive as long as you can against endless enemies, as only in death does duty end,” the announcement urged.
For PC players on Steam eager to jump in early, the “Siege” mode will be playable on a Public Test Server starting June 4. Focus Entertainment stated that more details about the mode will be shared in an upcoming Community Update.
The June 26 update, designated Patch 8, also includes two new cosmetic DLC packs for those who own the Ultra Edition, Gold Edition, or the Season Pass:
The White Scars Chapter Pack: This includes a new Champion skin for the Assault class, three exclusive White Scars–inspired weapon skins for the Occulus Bolt Carbine, Stalker Bolt Rifle, and Combat Knife, along with various cosmetic options and heraldry markings for their Successor Chapters.
The Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack: This pack provides a number of new armour pieces that can be equipped on any of the game’s playable classes, in addition to heraldry markings celebrating eight of the Blood Angels’ Successor Chapters.
Players looking to enlist or expand their armory can take advantage of discounts up to 40% on “Space Marine 2’s” Standard, Gold, and Ultra editions, and its DLCs during the ongoing Skulls Festival of Video Games. The publishers also invited players to join the “Space Marine 2” community, share feedback, and get exclusive rewards on their new Focus Together platform.
This “Siege” update is set to offer a major new challenge, significantly boosting the replayability for fans of the grimdark universe.
