The Flute of the Tides Mystic Skill is tied to the exploration quest of the same name, found in Jade Gate Pass in the Hexi region. Once unlocked, it lets you unleash a wide burst of damage before summoning a flute that continuously strikes nearby enemies.
To start the quest, travel to Peaceward Camp, located slightly northeast of Jade Gate Pass. Look for Monk Unknowing on a raised wooden platform just ahead of the Boundary Stone — he’ll be playing the flute. The quest won’t trigger until you play along with his music score.
Here’s the full sequence to earn the skill:
Play the flute for Monk Unknowing
Perform his piece Kalavinka using the rhythm mini-game. Time the falling notes to the beat on your keyboard or controller. You need to score at least 1,000 points to trigger the quest.
Talk to Monk Unknowing
After the performance, speak with him to ask about learning the skill. He’ll ask you to soothe the souls of fallen Anxi soldiers at two locations before he’ll teach you.
Play the flute at Whitecrown Fortress
Head southeast of Peaceward Camp to Whitecrown Fortress. Follow the quest marker to a small white beam on the ground and perform a shorter version of Kalavinka there.
Play the flute at Heroic Tomb
Travel southwest to Heroic Tomb in the Ayisu sub-region, near the lake leading to the tombs. Perform the flute piece one more time.
Return to Monk Unknowing
Head back to Peaceward Camp and speak with him to complete the quest and receive the Flute of the Tides Mystic Skill.
