January 13th, 2023 Update Patch Notes
The Onmyoji Arena January 13th, 2023 Update sees the Natsuhiko Kyogoku crossover character, Yato no Kami, will make his official debut in Heian-kyo.
New Shikigami Invades Heian-kyo!
The Natsuhiko Kyogoku crossover character, Yato no Kami, will make his official debut in Heian-kyo after maintenance on January 13, 2023!
Yato no Kami
Yato no Kami is a Samurai shikigami with powerful continuous combat capabilities and is skilled in pursuing and attacking enemies. Yato no Kami’s basic attacks and some of his abilities can inflict a Prank mark on targets that exposes their vision for a prolonged period, while Ability 3: Joint Dance allows him to easily pursue these marked targets. When charging, Yato no Kami’s Ultimate Ability: Finale gains a substantial Movement Speed bonus and is able to ignore terrain when moving, offering him more ways to enter the battlefield.
Trait: Akago
When casting his basic attacks or some of his abilities, Yato no Kami inflicts a Prank mark on enemies that he hits. Marked enemies will have their vision exposed. When Yato no Kami moves toward enemy shikigami with lower HP, he gains a Haste effect.
At regular intervals, Yato no Kami releases a bat that pursues enemy shikigami with less than a certain HP percentage beyond his vision range. As the bat flies, it leaves a red shadow path in its wake that is only visible to Yato no Kami.
Ability 1: Nighttime Invitation
Yato no Kami gains a stack of Crimson Moon mark each time he performs a basic attack. Crimson Moon stacks up to 4 times.
Active effect: Yato no Kami consumes all the Crimson Moon stacks he currently has to slash in the designated direction, dealing physical damage. Each stack of Crimson Moon consumed allows him to perform an additional slash. If full stacks of Crimson Moon are consumed, the final slash will increase in range and deal increased damage.
Ability 2: Life Seal
Yato no Kami throws a scythe in the designated direction and recalls it after a short delay. When moving to and fro, the scythe deals physical damage to enemies in its path and inflicts a Slow effect and a Prank mark on them.
When the scythe returns, it will spin around Yato no Kami once, dealing physical damage to enemies nearby. Hitting enemy shikigami this way will grant Yato no Kami a stack of Crimson Moon.
Ability 3: Joint Dance
Yato no Kami teleports to a location in the vicinity of an enemy inflicted with the Prank mark and increases his Attack Speed for a period of time. His basic attacks also deal splash damage to other enemies around the target. This ability’s cooldown is reduced each time Yato no Kami uses a basic attack.
Ultimate Ability: Finale
Yato no Kami flies into the air and begins charging. During this time, he gains a Haste effect and ignores terrain when moving. After he has finished charging, Yato no Kami deals physical damage to enemies around himself and inflicts the Prank mark on them before entering an enhanced state.
While in the enhanced state, Yato no Kami continuously deals physical damage to nearby enemies inflicted with the Prank mark and restores his own HP. Participating in sealing enemy shikigami increases the duration of Yato no Kami’s enhanced state.
Mechanics Adjustments
Hone Onna
Hone Onna can enter the battlefield with her Ability 3 and Ultimate Ability, where the latter also triggers enhanced basic attacks several times. While ensuring her damage output on one hand, we also hope to provide more ways of using Hone Onna by offering Invisibility to increase her harassment capabilities and early-game ganking.
Trait: Bone Birth
Passive trigger: Hone Onna is reborn after using this ability. Her next basic attack deals physical damage to enemies 3 times and may trigger attack effects.
Ability 1: Triple Slash
Hone Onna enters the Invisibility state, gaining Haste and Damage Reduction effects. These effects will be dispelled once she attacks.
Ultimate Ability: Resentment
Active trigger: Hone Onna performs a powerful thrust in the designated direction. When the thrust ends or upon hitting an enemy shikigami or monster, she deals damage to enemies within range. Damage dealt varies according to the target’s lost HP percentage.
Passive trigger: Defeating or assisting to defeat an enemy shikigami resets the cooldown of Hone Onna’s other abilities.
Izaya
Izaya’s Shuttle of Heaven trait is relatively weak in terms of consistency and the actual effect of its enhancement mechanic. That’s why we’ve lowered the conditions for Izaya to obtain her Shuttle of Heaven trait so that it is easier for her to reach maximum stacks. We’ve also removed the enhancement effects the Shuttle of Heaven trait has on Ability 2: Brocade and Ability 3: Different Paths upon reaching maximum stacks, replacing them with an immediate enhancement of Ability 1: Shrill Shuttle instead. Together, these adjustments make the overall ability enhancement appear more pronounced.
In addition, we’ve changed the enhancement effect of Izaya’s trait into a permanent effect to ensure her strength is well-balanced on the whole. We’ve also adjusted the controls of her Ability 3 and Ultimate Ability to optimize her ability casting.
We hope the above adjustments will provide a better gaming experience when battling with Izaya.
Trait: Shuttle of Heaven
Izaya gains 1 stack of Shuttle of Heaven upon casting an ability. Reaching 3 stacks of Shuttle of Heaven immediately enhances Ability 1: Shrill Shuttle. Shrill Shuttle has its own independent cooldown in the enhanced state.
New Enhanced Effect of Ability 1: Shrill Shuttle
Izaya shoots five small shuttles at the designated position, dealing damage to enemies hit.
Ability 2: Brocade
New recovery effect.
Ability 3: Different Paths
Simplified controls by combining the two-stage casting into a single step.
We’ve also introduced effects that occur after the target unit completes their transport path. Transported teammates gain a shield while transported enemies have their Movement Speed reduced.
Ultimate Ability: Ceaseless Cycle
Adjusted the controls. Adjusted how the ability is cast, from the original method of casting by selecting a designated direction to casting by selecting a designated position.
Spell Adjustments
In matches currently, there exists the problem where some spells are weaker while others have relatively harsh use conditions. We hope that by adjusting their mechanics, we can increase the scenarios where they can be used and enhance the value of casting them.
Shift
Shift allows you to designate one of your destroyed turrets as a teleportation destination. Successful teleportation grants a Haste effect that is removed upon entering battle.
At the 8th minute of the match, Shift is upgraded to Shift: Quick.
Shift: Quick
Chant for 2 seconds before teleporting to the location of the specified turret (including destroyed turrets) or minion. Gain a 40% Haste effect that lasts 5 seconds upon landing. The spell may be canceled by casting the ability again. At the same time, recover 50% of the cooldown time.
Cleanse
Expanded the range where Cleanse can purify debuffs. If you get controlled within 5 seconds of casting Cleanse, it immediately removes all control effects and makes you Immune to them for the next 2 seconds.
Cleanse will no longer affect debuffs that stack.
Bind
When moving towards a bound enemy shikigami, gain a Movement Speed increase.
Using Bind no longer lowers the caster’s damage.
Seeker
The ghost spirits summoned by Seeker will only probe for enemy shikigami within 3,000 yards of the caster. The number of ghost spirits summoned is determined by the number of enemy shikigami within range. A maximum of 5 ghost spirits can be summoned.
Item Adjustments
We’ve made adjustments to some items in hopes of increasing the variety of items available for players to select. We’ve also added a new jungle item enchantment mechanic, allowing players to flexibly select the Subdue effect that matches better based on the characteristics of their jungling shikigami and the state of the game. We hope that players will have more flexibility when selecting items and can also enjoy different ways of attacking.
For the upcoming season, we’ve made adjustments to the Eye of Orochi in the hopes that Ninja shikigami will have more options in their lane selection. We’ve also added a new DPS item, Underworld Fang. We hope that this can help Ninja shikigami more flexibly react to different scenarios in different lanes and also increase their ability to finish off enemies in the late game.

Jungle Items
After the Subdue spell is used in battle, the recovery effect in the jungle is slightly lacking. That’s why we’ve made adjustments to the monster damage, and also balanced the HP restored from subduing and sealing monsters.
- (1) Decreased monster damage.
- (2) Decreased the HP Regen effect from subduing monsters.
- (3) Increased the HP Regen effect from sealing monsters.
Jungle Item Enchantment Mechanics
Enchant jungle items by purchasing different Tamayura items and obtaining their corresponding Subdue effects.
- (1) Ice Subdue: Deal true damage to the target and absorb their Movement Speed.
- (2) Avalanche Subdue: Decrease the target’s damage, and gain HP Regen and damage reduction effect.
- (3) Evil Suppression Subdue: Inflicts Heal Down effect on the target and Evil Suppression continuously deals true damage to the target. If the target continues to receive damage from the caster, extends the duration of Evil Suppression.
Map Mechanics Adjustments
In the upcoming season, we hope that junglers will enjoy a more relaxed and comfortable experience.
That’s why we’ve adjusted the HP of the Kirin in the early game. We hope that in the early game, junglers will be able to set out on their own and have more flexibility in choosing the lanes that they go to, reducing their reliance on their teammates.
Reduced the Attack Damage of Red Imp, Nurikabe, Umbrella, and Parasite, but their target will be unable to dodge during their attacks. We hope players in the jungler role can focus their attention on analyzing the battle situation and selecting routes, thereby enjoying a new jungling experience. We’ve also adjusted the minion wave spawn time to match the jungle adjustments.
We’ve increased the speed of minion waves in the top and bottom lanes in the hope of reducing the difference in progression speed between the middle and the two other lanes.
Monster Stat Adjustments
Reduced Kirin’s base HP from 3,138-6,441 to 2,510-6,441.
Reduced the Attack Damage of Red Imp, Nurikabe, Umbrella, and Parasite from 125-270 to 100-240. Basic attack actions will not be cancelled after starting.
Minion Wave Adjustments
Minion wave spawn time in the middle lane brought forward to 3 seconds. Minion wave spawn time in the top and bottom lanes brought forward to 0 seconds.
Increased the base Movement Speed of minion waves in the top and bottom lanes from 220 to 255.
Jungle Protection Mechanics
When attacking monsters in the enemy jungle, the damage over time dealt by jungle items will not take effect.
Feature Adjustments
In the new season, we’ve added and optimized some features to improve players’ game experience:
New Shikigami Adjustment Display Feature
We’ve made changes to the Shikigami interface, the Ranked Match preparation screen, and the shikigami selection screen and added a new Shikigami Adjustments button. After the maintenance, players can tap the Shikigami Adjustments button to view game content adjustments released in the last 14 days, including shikigami and other in-match content adjustments. In addition, the shikigami selection screens for Casual Match and Ranked Match will display the shikigami that have been adjusted within the last 14 days, as well as the kinds of adjustments made.
Optimized Basic Attack Lock-on Enemy Feature
We’ve optimized the joystick and wheel for basic attacks, increasing the response speed for determining basic attack wheel dragging. We’ve also adjusted how basic attacks respond when this mode is enabled, allowing them to respond more accurately when the basic attack joystick is used to select the enemy.
New Preorder Equipment Display Feature
When a purchase has been completed for the current equipment in the preorder queue, the next equipment in the queue will be displayed briefly at the Shop access.
Optimized Accidental Dragging Prevention Display Effect For Death Camera Angle
When your shikigami dies, the game camera will be locked for a short while to prevent any accidental moving of the camera due to the quick actions at the moment of death.
New Settings Explanations
We’ve supplemented certain settings with detailed explanations to give players a better understanding of their functions.
New Equipment Redemption Feature
We’ve added a new equipment redemption feature in matches. In the 30 seconds after the game begins, players only need to be in the Seimei Well to redeem equipment at the original price. Currently, this feature is only available in Casual Match and Ranked Match.
New Beginner Lane Guide
We’ve added a new lane guide for beginners in matches. When the game begins, the corresponding lane prompts will guide players to a suitable lane. We hope this feature can help more beginners in getting to know Heian-kyo!
Released Custom Casting Settings for Some Shikigami
We’ve added special Casting Preference Settings for the Ultimate Abilities of Hako Shoujo and Hiyoribou. Players can select the manner of casting that they are more used to, and cast abilities more conveniently when using these shikigami.
Optimized Banning Stage Logic
We’ve optimized the logic in the banning stage in Ranked Match in the hope of improving communication between players and their teammates during this stage. After the adjustment, players in the shikigami banning stage can send “I want to select” and “I want to ban” messages.
Optimized In-match Signal Button Performance
When dragging the in-match signal button to certain buttons or interfaces to send messages, the modules that can be interacted with will be highlighted.
