October 20th, 2023 Update Patch Notes

This update sees Ichigo Kurosaki, Orochi, Ootakemaru, Kinnara, Dai Shimei, Oitsuki, Lord Arakawa, and Hoshiguma Doji adjustments arrives.

Balance Adjustments

Ichigo Kurosaki

Currently, when affected by control effects, Ichigo Kurosaki cannot use his Ultimate Ability Hollowfication under the Bankai form. This often results in situations where Ichigo Kurosaki enters teamfights with high HP but cannot use his ultimate due to being controlled, or even getting sealed with his ultimate being ready.

This makes the gameplay experience quite poor for Ichigo Kurosaki players. Due to the above, we made adjustments so that the ultimate can be used even while under control effects, but it will not remove the control effects. This change will grant more opportunities to use Hollowfication and still let opposing players use control effects to suppress Ichigo Kurosaki.

Also, during this adjustment, we improved the AI casting logic of the ultimate and fixed some AI issues during the ultimate’s duration.

Bankai Form Ultimate Ability: Hollowfication

It can now be used under control effects other than Suppress, Polymorph, Banish, but will not remove the control effects.

Improved the casting logic of Ability 2 Getsuga Tensho during the ultimate’s duration. It is now cast when enemies are closer within the ability’s range, and not cast right away when enemies enter the ability’s range.

Fixed inconsistency issues regarding the warning range and actual range of Getsuga Tensho when the ability ends.

Fixed issues of instances where the character stays under the range of the enemy turret even when there are no enemy targets nearby.


Orochi is currently too overpowering even without his true form. After acquiring certain items, Orochi is able to overcome the slow effect from Ability 1 Evil God’s Gaze and easily deal heavy damage. Therefore, instead of reducing movement speed by a percentage, we decided to directly reduce the base movement speed.

Our intention is to minimize the positive effects granted by bonus movement speed to this ability, allowing opponents more opportunities to counter based on their movement speed differences. Also, the cooldown for Orochi’s Ability 3 Evil Suppression is too short, granting too many terrain control capabilities using this ability in the early game and providing a certain vision advantage on the map, making the advantages quite noticeable in the top lane.

Therefore, we reduced the ability’s trigger range, changed the slow effect to decay over time, and greatly increased the cooldown. We hope these changes will reduce Orochi’s terrain control and vision capabilities.

Ability 1: Evil God’s Gaze

During Serpent Demon’s Gaze, instead of reducing the caster’s movement speed by 30%, the base movement speed is now reduced by 100.

Ability 3: Evil Suppression

Cooldown increased from 12/11.5/11/10.5/10s to 20/18.5/17/15.5/14s.

Slow effect adjusted from 40%/50%/60%/70%/80% for 2s to 60%/65%/70%/75%/80% weakens over 2s.

Trigger range reduced from 270 to 225.


When hit by Ootakemaru’s Ultimate Ability Unlimited Blade Prison, the enemy Shikigami loses their field of vision, making them dependent upon their teammates to understand the surroundings. This singled-out gaming experience is not so enjoyable for solo Onmyoji, so we removed this mechanic, but to balance this change, we increased Ootakemaru’s damage value and healing value, making him stronger and improving his performance in one-on-one and teamfights.

Ability 1: Hillcry: Thunder

Damage per hit increased from 3/6/9/12/15 (+20% Attack) (++0.6%/0.7%/0.8%/0.9%/1% Max HP) to 3.3/6.6/9.9/13.2/16.5 (+22% Attack) (++0.6%/0.75%/0.9%/1.05%/1.2% Max HP).


We noted some gameplay issues with Kinnara, such as Ability 2 Crescendo proves to be only powerful during laning but the cast range is shorter during teamfights, making her unable to position herself to attack from a safer distance. Spirit birds from the Ultimate Ability Flit chase rather slowly, causing Kinnara to deal damage slowly. So we decided to make adjustments to optimize the above issues.

Ability 2: Crescendo

Cast range increased from 800 to 850.

The farthest reach that damages enemies adjusted from 250 to 225.

Ultimate Ability: Flit

Optimized the issue of spirit birds chasing too slowly.

Dai Shimei

Compared to other Mages, bonuses gained from Ability Power for Dai Shimei are rather low. We increased the Ability Power bonuses for Ability 1 Dark Cloud and Ultimate Ability Forbidden Tome – Death Sentence, and we slightly lowered the Haste effect gained from detonating Falsehood. We hope these changes will concentrate Dai Shimei’s capabilities on dealing damage and allow him to deal greater damage.

Trait: No Mistakes

Haste effect obtained by detonating Falsehood reduced from 40% (+1.5%*Current Level) to 35% (+1.5%*Current Level).

Ability 1: Dark Cloud

Damage increased from 60/80/100/120/140 (+45% Ability Power) (+15*Current Level) to 60/80/100/120/140 (+55% Ability Power) (+15*Current Level).

Ultimate Ability: Forbidden Tome – Death Sentence

Damage per hit increased from 45/100/155 (+11% Ability Power) to 45/100/155 (+14% Ability Power).


Currently, Shishio feels a bit underpowered. We increased the damage for Ability 2 Fury of the Forest in hopes of providing Shishio with a more balanced performance.

Damage increased from 5/15/25/35/45 (+12% Bonus Attack) (+1.4%/1.5%/1.6%/1.7%/1.8% Target’s Max HP) to 6/18/30/42/54 (+16% Bonus Attack) (1.6%/1.75%/1.9%/2.05%/2.2% Target’s Max HP).


After the last adjustments, Oitsuki now feels a bit underpowered. We increased the damage for Ability 2 Crescent Moon in hopes of providing Oitsuki with a more balanced performance.

Ability 2: Crescent Moon

Damage from Moon Arc increased from 80/125/170/215/260 (+45% Ability Power) to 90/140/190/240/290 (+55% Ability Power).

Lord Arakawa

Lord Arakawa’s performance is rather disappointing, lacking the power to deal damage overall. We slightly increased the damage dealt for Lord Arakawa’s Ability 1 Passing Tide. The MP cost for the Ultimate Ability Flowing Stream also seems a bit high, resulting in Lord Arakawa lacking MP during teamfights. To address this issue, we slightly reduced the MP cost.

Damage increased from 100/130/160/190/220 (+60% Ability Power) to 100/135/170/205/240 (+65% Ability Power).

Ultimate Ability: Flowing Stream

MP cost reduced from 70 to 60.

Hoshiguma Doji

Hoshiguma Doji’s Ability 3 Avatar of Wine Demon included a displacement effect, granting him too much mobility during teamfights. This made him able to charge in from any direction, allowing him to support too often during the early to mid-game period. Combined with this ability’s Untargetable mechanic, even if the enemy has spotted Hoshiguma Doji, they are unable to counter or control him.

Therefore, we removed the displacement and adjusted the Haste effect, reducing his mobility in charging into battles while maintaining his capacity to pursue. To compensate, we slightly increased the base damage for Ability 2 Hide and Seek.

Damage increased from 70/125/180/235/290 (+50% Ability Power) to 90/155/220/285/350 (+50% Ability Power).

Damage from ending prematurely increased from 30/52/74/96/118 (+20% Ability Power) to 40/66/92/118/144 (+20% Ability Power).

Ability 3: Avatar of Wine Demon

Removed the displacement effect upon casting the ability.

Haste effect gained from the ability adjusted from 35%/41.25%/47.5%/53.75%/60% to 200% weakens over time to 0%.

Adjustments and Improvements

Fixed issues with Kinnara’s Moonlight Melodies Skin where the audio is missing in Shikigami Voice or doesn’t play properly during matches.

Optimized the interactive experience and visual effects for the Home Page, Ranked Match, Chat, and Prepare for Battle interfaces.

Optimized HP deduction speed and improved the differentiation performance for different damages.

Fixed issues regarding Shikigami that rely on basic attacks dealing far more damage than expected from triggering Grass-cutting Sword Cursed Scar.

Free Shikigami Lineup Adjustments

Onmyoji Arena will change the lineup of the limited-time free Shikigamis at 5:00 AM on October 23rd, 2023. The new free Shikigamis will be Komatsu, Umibozu, Ungaikyo, Yuki, Orochi, Ootengu, Chin, and Kosodenote.

Onmyoji who owns the God of Fortune Month Pact will have the additional free Shikigamis, Furi, and Kyonshi Imoto.

Of these shikigami, Kosodenote has a difficulty of Hard. Onmyoji who has been in Heian-kyo for less than 7 days can’t use her in battle for free.
