April 29th 2022 Update Patch Notes
The Onmyoji Arena April 29th, 2022 Update sees new Ninja shikigami Furi make his official debut on the Heian-kyo battlefield.
Free Shikigami Lineup Adjustments
We will change the lineup of the limited-time free shikigami at 5:00am on May 2nd, 2022. The new free shikigami will be Enma, Mushishi, Tanuki, Kyuumei Neko, Enenra, Aoandon, Yamakaze, and Mouba.
Onmyoji who own the God of Fortune Month Pact will have the additional free shikigami Futakuchi and Shuten Doji.
Of these shikigami, Yamakaze and Mouba have a difficulty of Hard. Onmyoji who have been in Heian-kyo for less than 7 days can’t use them in battle for free.
This week sees a new shikigami, Furi, make his debut on the Heian-kyo battlefield.
New Shikigami Furi Invades Heian-kyo!
“Furi is just a coward who’s afraid of death, but so what? The fear of death is what’s kept me alive till now!”
As the “greatest assassin in Heian-kyo”, Furi has superb mobility. Slow enemies will have an extremely difficult time locating and launching effective attacks on him.
Ability 1 and Ability 3’s displacement mechanic allows Furi to enter the battlefield from all angles and make use of his agile movements to lure enemies into the bomb trap already set in place.
Compared to other Ninja shikigami, Furi has higher tankiness. After all, he has the brains to wear an iron plate when out on a mission.
Trait: Wind Guard
Passive trigger: For every nearby enemy shikigami with Slow, Furi gains a stack of damage reduction effect.
Ability 1: Sticky Bombs
Furi attaches bombs to enemies within an arc. They detonate after a certain amount of time, dealing AoE damage to and stunning enemies in range.
While casting the ability, Furi will roll in the direction of the left joystick.
Ability 2: Blade Whirl
Furi throws a huge shuriken in the designated direction, damaging and slowing units in its path. The shuriken drops to the ground when it reaches the furthest distance. If it hits an enemy shikigami or monster, it will drop behind the unit hit.
Furi retrieving the dropped shuriken will strengthen the next basic attack for a certain amount of time, dealing AoE damage and restoring HP.
Ability 3: Hook Spin
Furi swings a hook. After hitting a monster, his own double, or an enemy shikigami, he creates a link with it and starts spinning around the target in the designated direction of the left joystick.
Using this ability again will pull him toward the linked target and knock back all enemies that are in the path of the link.
Ability 4: Double Gust
Furi summons a double to charge in the designated direction. After hitting an enemy shikigami or reaching the furthest distance, a gust of wind will form around the double, dealing DoT to and slowing enemies in range.
The double can be selected by Ability 3.
This week sees Furi make his official debut on the Heian-kyo battlefield. Furi’s dyed skin, Glacial Gust, is also available to purchase in the Skin Shop.

Matching System Optimizations
Matching players to teammates and opponents of similar strength within a limited amount of time has always been the Heian-kyo matching system’s central objective. To this end, we have made some optimizations to the matching mechanics.
Rank Point Optimizations
We have noticed that stronger players need to go through more matches in order to reach the tier that corresponds to their skill level. In addition, at lower tiers, they easily defeat their opponents and have a hard time coordinating with teammates. Therefore, we have made adjustments to the Rank Point calculation mechanics. We hope that this will help to correct the situation and help high-performing players to raise their ranked tiers more quickly.
After adjustments, when the system determines that an Onmyoji is noticeably stronger than their current tier, a prompt will be displayed when loading the match. If the Onmyoji wins the match, they will receive bonus Rank Points after the match.
Post-match Information Display Adjustments
After adjustments, if a premade team exists among members of the team in the match, this will be indicated within the post-match results screen using an icon.
Losing Team Avoidance Rule
After losing a match, you will not be matched into the same team as your previous teammates for your next match. This rule loses effect once you go offline.
We will continue to pay attention to feedback and establish indicators to monitor the online matching system’s performance. By continuously optimizing the matching system, we hope to provide our Onmyoji with as many quality matches as possible so that everyone can enjoy the game through equally matched battles.
Shikigami Balance Adjustments
Shiro
In the previous balance adjustments, Shiro’s lane suppression abilities became too strong. Therefore, we have readjusted the base damage and recovery ability of his trait.
Natural Passive: Empty Soul
Reduced damage from 30 (+55% of Ability Power) (+16*current level) to (+55% of Ability Power) (+16*current level).
Increased HP recovery from 20 (+35% of Ability Power) (+8*level) to (+35% of Ability Power) (+10*level).
Mouba
Mouba is too strong and difficult to counter in the hands of experienced players. Therefore, we have suitably reduced the base damage of her Ability 2.
Ability 2: Netherworld Tune
Reduced base damage from 15/22.5/30/37.5/45 to 15/20/25/30/35.
Ultimate Ability: Bowl Barrage
Reduced base damage from 300/480/660 to 260/460/660.
Kani Hime
Due to item changes, Kani Hime’s mid game tankiness and damage capability were greatly enhanced. Therefore, we have made appropriate adjustments to the cooldown of her trait and the damage and recovery effect of her Ability 1.
Trait: Crab Shell
Increased cooldown from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.
Ability 1: Conch Hammer
Reduced max HP bonus damage from 15%/16.5%/18%/19.5%/21% to 12%/13.5%/15%/16.5%/18%.
Reduced base HP recovered by hitting shikigami from 10/20/30/40/50 to 10/17.5/25/32.5/40.
Reduced base HP recovered by hitting enemies from 2/4/6/8/10 to 2/3.5/5/6.5/8.
Ootakemaru
Ootakemaru’s laning and combat capabilities are visibly higher than other similar shikigami. Therefore, we have reduced the base damage and recovery effect of his Ability 1, as well as the bonus damage dealt to targets with max Ruin Lightning stacks.
Trait: Earth Magic
Reduced additional damage dealt to targets with max Ruin Lightning stacks from 2 (+10% of extra Attack) (+4*current level) (+0.5% of target’s Max HP) to 2 (+10% of extra Attack) (+3*current level) (+0.5% of target’s Max HP).
Ability 1: Hillcry: Thunder
Reduced the base damage of the thunderstorm from 10/15/20/25/30 to 5/10/15/20/25.
Reduced the recovery effect of the thunderstorm from 1%/1.1%/1.2%/1.3%/1.4% of lost HP to 0.9%/0.95%/1%/1.05%/1.1% of lost HP.
Shiro Mujou
Shiro Mujou’s compatibility with the new version of Occult: Purge Evil greatly enhanced his damage capability in late game. Therefore, we have made appropriate reductions to his ultimate ability.
Ultimate Ability: Hands of Hell
Reduced damage from 80/120/160 (+30% of Ability Power) to 80/115/150 (+25% of Ability Power).
Suzuka Gozen
After the bug where Suzuka Gozen’s enhanced basic attack repeatedly triggered the basic attack effect was fixed, her performance fell below expectations. Therefore, we have added further adjustments to the damage dealt by her trait.
Trait: Sharp Weapon
Damage increased from 5 (+115% Attack) (+2.5* level) to (+125% (+1% *current level) Attack) (+2.5* level).
Demon Encounter
In the preparation stage of Fun Mode’s Demon Encounter, you can use 3 Lucky Dice to exchange 3 owned shikigami for random new shikigami, at a maximum of two exchanges per game. Players may choose to use Mystery Vouchers or Jade when out of Lucky Dice.
Optimizations and Adjustments
When the following Metacognitive Decoding series skins are in use: Menreiki’s Lunar Fantasia, Onikiri’s Binary Fugue, Ittan-momen’s Metaphysical Duet, their idle voice lines and quick messages in matches will be replaced by audio that matches the skins’ style.
Special displays have been added to the HP bar for the following abilities’ damage and recovery effects.
